Shanghai Waterfront Designer’s Home

The color palette of living area is kept neutral with a curved grey sofa by Ligne Roset, glass tea table by Glass italia;a couple of vintage Lady chairs was re-fabricated with emerald -green and hounds-tooth originally designed by Marco Zanuso, and plenty of orderly displayed paintings hanging on the wall, which created a balancing ambience. 

Dinning area is compact yet elegant. It collects a pale marble table by Angelo Mangiarotti, four Costes armchairs by Philippe Starck mixed with vintage revers chair and classic thonet chair, as well as suspending a hat-shape pendant lamp by Catellani&Smith. All treasured objects bought worldwide were displayed on the designer’s favourite Cassina limited Veliero bookshelf designed by Franco Albini.

The living room is connected by Taurus black marble fireplace and orderly displayed artworks, paintings and vintage neoclassic mirror from Paris hanging on the wall. P40 Lounge Chair designed by Osvaldo Borsani is standing in front of fireplace.

Collections of 1930s Shanghai Art Deco furnitures. Vintage floor lamp from 1960s Italian design, combines with Classic Togo sofa and contemporary painting by Chinese artist. A Chinoiserie style display cabinet and vintage bird’s feet side table standing in the corner of living room. 

Reading room breaks to living room deliberately, decorated with opera-scene wallpaper and combination of mix & match furnishings, to create eclectic and dramatic ambience. A vintage teak wood desk manufactured by an Italian craftsman centers the reading room, accompanied by a carbon fibre palace chair from ShangXia, A pair Art Deco lamps from 1925 Paris Expos stands on the walnut cabinet by Moreless, A piece of 18-century French twin chair fits the corner of the  curved brass bookshelf, besides, the hanging painting was created by Vietnam artist and “Happy forever”calligraphy by famous Chinese artist Shifa Chen.

The curved brass bookshelf extend and connect with living room space. The surface of brass will change time by time.   The corridor was created and integrated with many Chinese accents,such as artworks and paintings by ancient and contemporary artists from China, Italy, France and America, in order to feature the space in a eclectic mood. An adjacent room alongside the corridor is transformed into a tea room in exotic color palette, the room features cherry-red mood and vintage furnishings from all over the world, Morocco style coffee table stands on a checkerboard rug. The vintage RR226 Radiofonografo by Brionvega plays duet with the Hill house chair designed by Macintosh, Tibet thang-ka hanging on the wall tracks the same oriental origins with Shanghai Art Deco brass pendent lamp.

On the other side, checkerboard carpentry from the Republic of China period mix with Bohemia style peacock chair, limited red Superrari Lamp of Memphis works with the Chinese murals hanging on the wall, which all of these deliver the sense of harmonious conflict. Light wood veneer wall panels, Art Deco pale marble fireplace features master bedroom, which is a similar interplay of elegance and comfortableness.  Light wood veneer extended to bed backdrop, nightstands are replaced by a pair of French Napoleon III style brass red-velvet chairs, mixing with black and white handmade Morocco rug, which creates a similar interplay of elegance and comfortableness. 

A customed Art Deco pale marble fireplace play duet with a shell-shaped marble wall scone by Ginger & Jagger. Wood wall pattern is designed and inspired by Art Deco sunburst pattern. Mirror doors had been used in walk-in closet, paved with paper-cut pattern rug by Henri Matisse, to create an infinite and playful fantasy.
