Noriko Kuresumi
I hope my work can reflect my feelings about the ocean and not just the ocean itself. My feeling about the ocean is: the ocean is the origin of life, and all life is connected and supported by each other. I imagine the source of harmony and balance in the ocean. Create my work.
Noriko is a Japanese artist living in New York City. Inspired by the harmony and balance of the ocean, she creates ceramic sculptures with exquisite and sensual forms. She completed the study of painting and sculpture through self-study, and participated in many art competitions to improve her creative level.
All of Noriko's works are named "The Sea of Memory", and the memory of her childhood life on the beach occupies an important place in her art works. By making elegant organic lines and shapes, she directly reflects her admiration and feelings for the ocean. She imagines herself being assimilated by the sea, floating and echoing with the rhythm of the ebb and flow of the tide.
Noriko's works often leave people in a strange and peaceful trance. They are elegant in posture, juxtaposed with slender and fragile forms. They are all finished by hand, and the unique detail processing allows these forms to strike a balance between elegance and fragility, while also embodying the mutual support of life. The fluidity and Zen that Noriko can achieve through pottery is really amazing.
