In this 170 sqm flat situated in the centre of Madrid, with 4 east-facing and 4 westfacing balconies, OOAA project a layout that visually connects both facades in order to cross the light, the ventilation and the circulation of the house.
This connection must be generous, avoiding a corridor. In the eastern face, we dispose the living room with 3 balconies and the master bedroom; and in the western face place 2 more bedrooms. In order to open the space OOAA decide to place the kitchen- dining room in the centre of the layout plan with natural light from 2 interior patios. This gives life to the kitchen turning it into the neuralgic centre of the house.
This project mainly focuses on the ceilings. Each space remains still and static, and the time stops. This is, surely, the most important goal in OOAA project: to stop the time and to create calm and visual comfort spaces, where the dynamism and diagonals are excluded.
The material selection must also add to this goal. This way, a monochrome ambience in bone colour provides visual peace due to the fact that our view hardly comes to an end, and it generates a unique built object in terms of architecture and decoration, where the air, the emptiness, the light and the shadows define the spaces.Mixed lime finish in the ceiling, textile in the walls, wooden carpentry and travertine counters provide quality, craftsmanship and warmness for a house .
