Belgian designer Stephane Boens honed his skills at Rice University in Houston, where he was taught by postmodern architect James Stirling. After working in the United States for many years, Boens settled in the beautiful Leiestreek district, which is home to many gorgeous estates.
In the US, Boens took a relaxed approach to architecture, working in both traditional and modern styles. He was personally interested in both, but professionally he preferred the former.
The Anglo-Norman style was particularly popular on the coast, but also in the picturesque Leiestreek. Regional architecture has been a great source of inspiration for Stéphane Boens. He also has a rich archive of photos and sketches. He restyles these architectural elements into a new creation, mainly using traditional techniques.
Residence D is a minimal house located in Essene, Belgium, designed by Stephane Boens. The space features vaulted ceilings with walls finished in plaster. The light carpeting is transitioned into white marble in the bathroom, with the marble encompassing the walls and counters. Built-in closets provide a hallway access path from the bathroom to bedroom. A custom mahogany headboard extends the length of the space.
