Hermès Boutique

Interiors Commerce Rome 2024-07-02

Studiopepe authors the latest Hermès pop-up store dedicated to accessories, small leather goods and beauty products in the wonderful context of Via Condotti in Rome.

Arianna Lelli Mami e Chiara Di Pinto, the studio’s creative directors, propose a graceful and welcoming space characterised by sinuous shapes and earthy tones, with terracotta accents. A homogenous cocoon expressing a new concept of luxury which feels comfortable and intimate at once. The floorpan reveals a smooth and sleek space with a gender-free approach. The boutique collection includes male and female products, mixed together ensuring an immersive experience embracing all senses.

Like a continuous ribbon, the curved walls guide the visitors through the four rooms of the store, expressing a timeless elegance and artisanal conscience, crucial values part of the brand ethos. The reference to these concepts is visible in the choice of natural materials which are also typical of the italian tradition.

An elegant intonaco finish made of marbles dust covers the vertical surfaces and a curtain made of natural rope conceals the  back of house entrance. As a contrast to the neutrality of the space, are the organic shaped desktops, finished with a sophisticated cocciopesto material with a terracotta tone and the stools made of a rich walnut wood.

Contemporary art has been a major influence in the development of the project and the creative process. Subtle references to the Italian Spazialismo and Paolo Scheggi’s work can be read in the backlit niches which animate the walls - an opportunity to display the products in an unexpected way, resulting in a feeling of surprise and playfulness which are recurring themes in Hermès approach. A tubular system made of bronzed brass has been used to display the silk scarves, echoing the subtle lightness and playfulness of Fausto Melotti’s sculptures. These elements reappear in the window displays combined with elegant fused glass screens and coloured rocks which becomes further supports to exhibit the products.

Trays, props and all traditional display supports of the brand have been reinterpreted and redesigned by the Studio to match the aesthetics of the boutique, maintaining a coherent approach throughout. Right before the last room ,which is dedicated to the beauty collection, is an interactive infinity room where visitors can open virtual portals in the screen which prompt three video animation conceived by the Studio. These display imaginary landscapes that reinterpret the Hermessence fragrances which are also dispensed in the space. The visual merges with the olfactory experience, a synesthesia celebrating the most representative fragrances of the maison and contributing to this unique tale between art and dream.
