Tatjana von Stein's client is a very creative, Spanish graphic designer who lives between Ibiza and London. The studio refurbished her 145 sqm 3 bedroom maisonette on the top floor of a small building in Hackney, East London overlooking London roofs over the 2nd and 3rd floor. We transformed the space into a 2 bedroom to create a generous en suite master bedroom and extended the property on the top floor by transforming a smaller terrace into a small dining room.
It was fabulous working with an open minded creative client. We took some of her Spanish heritage to work on a warm, sculptural design concept to transport you the minute you walk through the door in the thick of the city. There is a touch of glam, a European flair and an overall indulgence in design throughout.
From leopard carpets, antique Murano wall lights, an Art deco fireplace, rust limewash paint, cherry wall panels and bespoke carpeted bed paired with fabulous wallpapers from Nobilis, silk wardrobe doors and more modernist stainless steel accents - the design is layered, rich in complexity merging a feel home and a slight theatrical touch as always.
Various antique furniture including a 70s burr wood coffee table, b&b sofa, vintage Punjabi armchairs amongst many other unique finds, Tatjana von Stein tends to design bespoke pieces to have these made as sustainibly as possible by local artisans wherever we work layered with many curiosities and vintage pieces to push for a timeless flair.
