Walker Warner Architects and designer Nicole Hollis were recently asked by a couple who relocated from Hong Kong to design their home in California's Bay Area. The owners wanted a home that would allow them to relax and entertain, as well as enjoy an intimate connection to California nature. Located on a hillside in Tiburon, The Tiburon Bay View house overlooks San Francisco Bay. The house carefully balances public and private Spaces, including flowing plans and hidden enclaves built for the extended family.
Nicole Hollis designed an environment that showcases the client's impressive collection of Chinese and contemporary art, while also embracing the client's modernist leanings. The interior features expressive fine craftsmanship, bespoke detail and rich surfaces such as oversized brass panels in a unique silver nitrate finish.
Nicole Hollis commissioned artist Michele Oka Doner to create an unusual two-ton bronze screen that serves as a structural anchor for the entryway and formal dining room, while also demonstrating artistic integrity. An extensive furniture project, including many custom designs by Nicole Hollis, reflects a highly curated atmosphere.
