For many people, Lugu Lake, which straddles the provinces of Sichuan and Yunnan, is a magical place, not only because it offers life and travel possibilities, but also because it is a place where they can come face to face with their true selves.

Sichuan Province occupies nearly two thirds of the water area of Lugu Lake. Because it is closely related to the traditional life of "Mosuo people", it has formed a living root system that can be lived and visited over the years, which is in sharp contrast to "Lugu Lake" tourist attraction in Yunnan Province. The "Lugu Lake" in Yunnan Province continues Yunnan people's habitual impression of "leisure" : The sunshine is light, like a gentle and affectionate woman, graceful and graceful. Located in Sichuan Province, "Lugu Lake", but like his father's generous and affectionate arms, sunshine has a unique expression, either strong or deep, modern life and tradition are well connected together, let people feel peaceful.

Many people are fascinated by coming to "Lugu Lake" because here, they can swim in the sun and nature, enjoy the exotic life scene. Or in the simplicity and serenity of modern life we may forget the "everyday".

What is "everyday"? In my mind, "daily life" is not "ordinary time" like three meals a day, but a kind of deja vu, which can wake up the time and beauty left in our memory. It is the imprint and accumulation of body temperature, growth and time, and the "collective unconsciousness" of a generation. It is not a novelty seeking, not a strange and formatted "beauty", but a kind of "familiarity" from a long time ago. It tells us what we should value in life.

Meanwhile, in the real life of "Lugu Lake" and the burning sun, we can face the real type and all of the past, and seek enlightenment. Therefore, we should respect "everyday"!

Explore the meaning of "living"

If everyday is important, then more important is the experience that runs through everyday, which allows us to understand the true meaning of life. The bank of the Lugu Lake is a hotel situated halfway up a mountain: "Recalling the Old Days and Mountain Maritime Affairs" which provides us with such space.

It is Chengdu Yihe Shangpin Design Company in 2023 dedicated to our wonderful works! In this work, the designer Yi Ping does not show off his skills or show any conscious design traces. Instead, he tells a quiet, solitary and "everyday" affair in a simple narrative way, which inadvertently makes us return to the deep feeling.

Instead of focusing on the typological design symbols and symbols such as "homestay" or "boutique hotel", designers focus on the catering, social interaction and solitude that occur after "stay", and use this as a clue to sort out the evolution of nature, humanity and lifestyle in traditional and modern contexts, turning living into a period of time rather than a time point event. Starting from the space atmosphere, the designer designs a space narrative statement with "once" life atmosphere and temperament, which makes people move.

"Story · Mountain Maritime" Hotel is "plain" and "daily". It is such "plain" and "daily" that arouses our pure touching. The designer guides us into real life situations in an almost bland way, introducing an unexpected encounter in life with simple restraint: After parking, the guests pass through a section of sloping footpath and enter the outdoor space of the hotel in the ring of the forest. Here, the wooden house used to be used by the "Moshuttle" forms a hotel like a "post station in the forest". It faces the Lugu Lake, backs against the pine forest, and the Goddess of Gemu Mountain in the distance can be seen faintly.

Design is a kind of narrative, and all emotions need to be hidden in the "identity" expression of narrative. What is important is not the abuse of skills, but the expression of life attitude and stance, and the designer's understanding and respect for "residence"!

In "Narrative · Mountain Maritime", the designer has a desire: to abandon the superficial satisfaction of pure "tourism" and expand everything around "stay", so that the heart can calm down, the body can "live" and "rest" in the "daily" understanding and beauty, and feel the plain "poetry" in the once familiar "daily", and everything can be extended and spread in the "secluded" mood. At this time, we suddenly found that: once and we get along day and night "daily" full of our profound understanding of life, let the increasingly impetuous experience to peace!

After walking through the resort courtyard, we came to the pre-set space with traces of use for "staying" in the hotel, as if entering the "memory" tunnel once familiar. We saw that the designer made space planning with natural rhythm. The natural Lugu Lake landscape presented a landscape like canvas in the division of window holes, and the sight line was like three-dimensional rotation.

At this moment, what comes to my mind are the words discussed by Barash in the Poetics of Space: when we dream of the home where we were born, in the deepest part of the dream, we are immersed in the initial heat, in the mild substance of the physical heaven. It is in such an atmosphere that a protected existence lives. We're going to rethink the mothering of the home. ... You were there for us, holding us and being held. There is no doubt that a lot of our memories have been settled because of the family home. It is the function of space.

In "Narrate · Mountain Maritime" hotel, the designer makes everything quiet without any trace, and makes memories intertwine our memories like vines, stirring our thoughts a little bit, making the blur become clear and accessible. At this time, bookshelves made of old wood with memories of childhood pulp, books with body heat, sofa with a slightly collapsed and wrapped feeling, and messy and soft bed make people feel casual and safe. The pine fires crackled in the fireplace against the chill and desolation of the lake.

In the eyes of designers, conservative residence is a private place with family publicity, which is closed, conservative and old. As Hiroshi Yamamoto said: For me, I think true beauty is something that can stand the test of time. Time, with its corrosive power to oppress, pardon no one, and will to return everything to the land. Can withstand these and retained shape and color, is the real beauty.

Although "Narrative · Mountain Maritime" hotel only has a design space of more than 700 square meters, it contains natural sunlight permeating into the interior through the window lattice, which makes the space a lot of changes, showing rich and everyday texture. The designer at the entrance draws on the opposite treatment of Le Corbusier and echoes the meaning of the fire pit of the Mosuo people, which is mysterious and interesting. In the "Story · Mountain Maritime" hotel, we can quietly read, daze or reminisce about the past, from the once familiar words and phrases to comprehend.
