Interiors Houses Spanish 2023-09-11

A cosy house nestled between creek and pine forest, where raw materials merge with a fine selection of furniture. Founded by Jurjen Van Hulzen, Ibiza interiors operated a total renovation reinterpreting the existant house by providing it a true Mediterranean essence. The ambition of the studio was to bring warmth and softness while maintaining and respecting the home’s existing modern design.

Inside, the choice of furniture is based on simple shapes, quality materials and a sharp attention to detail. The majority of the interior items comprise primarily of contemporary Scandinavian pieces, with small stylistic touches that capture the true Ibizan Bohemian spirit. The designers made the choice of simple volumes with organic shapes, punctuating the space with « finca » elements. Thus, rustic finishes are mixed with luxurious contemporary fixtures, for a serene and natural atmosphere.
A glass roof opens up the living area and makes it brighter during winter period, and more connected to the garden during summer. This play of porosity between interior and exterior can be found in several spaces of the house: an outdoor shower hides in the bushes to refresh in complete privacy and the master bedroom is wide opened towards the forest. These facilities contribute to feel connected to the surrounding nature while enjoying maximum comfort.

Outside, the terrace has the aspect of a relaxing oasis. Facing the sea, the turquoise pool seems to be extracted from it. The typical dry stone terrace breaks with the linear geometry of the house by adopting a semi circular shape that plunges towards the panoramic view. Further on, a platform in the trees offers another peaceful space, to enjoy the warm summer nights or outdoor yoga sessions. Regarding the garden, the landscape designer made the choice of using mediterranean species such as oleanders, agapanthus, mastics, olive trees and pine trees, which makes it as a continuity of the forest.

As an extension of the house, an outdoor kitchen mixes refined lines with the very raw materials of the sink and the oven. In front, a traditional wooden dining table invites to enjoy endless lunches under the pine trees and conviviality moments. Cala Molí is finally imbued with the charm of the Mediterranean holiday without having lost its modern cachet, which makes it a vibrant and comfortable living place.
