Maison Intègreis set to launch a new collection in collaboration with the multifaceted French designer Noé Duchaufour-Lawrance, whose inventive approach to the quintessential shapes found in Tiebélé, a traditional Kassena village located in the south of Burkina Faso, as well as other elements ever-present in the Burkinabe culture, has allowed him to create seven sculptural pieces that counterpart each other.

Noé travelled to Burkina Faso and found himself exceptionally inspired by the country’s traditions and ways of living, particularly the lost wax technique boosted by Maison Intègre. He worked together with the bronzesmiths and artisans at Maison Intègre’s workshops in Ouagadougou to create the pieces for this collection that will be revealed to the public at Les Ateliers Courbet, in New York City, from May 11th to July 26th 2022.

The Gourounsie architecture of the Kassena villages, an ethnic group from southern Burkina Faso, is a vernacular earthen architecture. The simple oblong shapes of these houses and their slightly inclined and projecting walls from the roof allow to dry the cereals. This formal principle is the major source of inspiration for the realization of this tables.

Masques Sconces are a tribute to ritual african masks and the richness of their forms. Composed of two simple intersecting wooden shapes, the Palabre Chair is an iconic African object, found in many countries. Bronze has replaced wood here and fixed the form, simplifying the lines and playing on the finesse of the material.

The Retro lamp a nod to the city of Ouagadougou and its frenetic traffic. The object was directly carved in wax by Noé Duchaufour-Lawrance during one of his trips to Burkina Faso. 

The lobi ladder, a traditional everyday object, is used to access the roof of the Kassena’s houses where cereals are dried. Here, its archetypal form is transformed into a sculptural floor lamp, a totem of light.
