Sigve Knutson
I am looking for a connection with the past, looking for sharp stones that were discovered thousands of years ago, hitting them, in the most primitive way, I like to show the audience how materials shape us, and we created them, and they lead unexpected Form and function.
Knutson is an experimental designer living in Oslo, Norway. He obtained a master's degree in contextual design from the Eindhoven School of Design in 2016, but has always been interested in sculpture creation. practical motivation is an obsession with intuition and gameplay, rather than a smooth and planned one.
Knutson's design reminds people of ancient objects. All of his works are hammered by hand. He uses basic tools to hammer and shape, evokes people's thinking about the stone and iron ages. His wish is to increase the audience's understanding of materials and their relationship with everyday objects.
Knutson's freehand and improvisational creative technique gave him more time and freedom to playfully layer shelves and assemble parts by hand. These works are regarded as purely production exercises and part of personal and introspective design and production. It is the meaning of craftsmanship to be human, especially what it means to be "human beings who create things in this era".
