The entire home, including all three floors, courtyard, and outbuilding, underwent a comprehensive reinvention in response to the client's request. The downstairs, including the pictured kitchen, reflects the sophisticated ambiance and vintage charm of certain New York hotel lobbies. The client's request for two kitchens – the one on the first floor used primarily for entertaining – led to the creation of two distinct kitchens subtly related in design.
The first floor kitchen is a welcoming haven where custom glazed ceramic pendants cast a warm glow over contemporary Stillfried Ton Counter Stools. Home Studios collaborator Ben Lai's masterful plaster finish sets the stage for culinary artistry, complemented by the artistic touch of Danny Kaplan Studio’s ceramic Totem Vessel as seen on the countertop.
Home Studios values diverse visual storytelling that prioritizes the primacy of emotion with emphasis of blending contemporary and vintage, as evidenced by the living room. The focal point is a pair of vintage Bentwood Armchairs by Karel Kozelka & Antonin Kropacek and the contemporary B&B Italia Camaleonda Sofa by Mario Bellini.
The owners find serenity in the principal bedroom, where a custom-made bed takes center stage. Beside it, custom bedside sconces with blackened steel and hand-blown opal glass shades cast a gentle glow, setting the mood for relaxation. Contemporary Beni Rugs Wool Rugs grace the bedside, offering warmth underfoot. The walls are adorned with a luxurious Plaster Finish by Ben Lai, adding a subtle texture that complements the tranquil ambiance. A Sunfish NYC Little Rock Lamp adds an artistic touch, casting a soft light that invites you to unwind in this harmonious haven of comfort and style.
