Neuenburg am Rhein's strategic location at the tri-border region of France, Switzerland, and Germany underscores its historical significance. During the State Garden Exhibition 2022, the city seized the opportunity to revitalize urban areas, particularly the "Am Kronenrain" site, situated between the city center and the newly redesigned green space, "Stadtpark am Wuhrloch." Initially marred by a lack of usable space and a nine-meter height difference, this area underwent a transformative process led by MONO.

MONO's innovative design comprises a multifunctional ensemble featuring a parking garage, public space, bridge, and tower, bridging the gap between urban landscapes. The tower, a striking city entrance visible from afar, engages in a dynamic interplay with the adjacent parking garage, forming a distinctive landmark. Below the parking garage lies the Münsterplatz, a new public space serving as a base for access to the Bertholdturm and offering an observation platform with panoramic views of the scenic surroundings.

The architectural elements, including the parking structure, tower, and bridge, are meticulously crafted with durable materials like rammed earth and Corten steel, ensuring longevity and sustainability. Inspired by the region's traditional use of red sandstone and the Rhine's former riverbank, the perforated facades feature layers of red-tinted rammed earth, creating a visually striking yet robust aesthetic. Future plans include extending the bridge as a ramp for barrier-free access to the park, further enhancing connectivity and accessibility in the area. This forward-thinking approach reflects a commitment to creating a vibrant, harmonious urban environment designed for the future.
