Vincent Pocsik is an American artist who lives and works in Los Angeles, CA. He attended graduate school for architecture at Southern California Institute of Architecture in Los Angeles. Shortly after graduating, he opened a studio in downtown Los Angeles, which developed into the studio he runs today. All pieces are made inside his shop in Los Angeles or done with local Los Angeles craftsmen.

Vincent is interested in how the invisible feelings of human life converse with the visible interactions between us and our environment. His main medium of exploration is wood. His choice of wood is because of his belief that it holds truths about the world within it. Vincent’s work balances old and new fabrication techniques to breathe new life into materials while holding onto the richness of the past. This process is influenced by the desire to push the formal boundaries of mediums such as wood, glass, and metal so each work transforms into an anatomical expression and presence of its own.

Vincent Pocsik is not satisfied with only making beautiful artworks, he wants his work to be provocative, grotesque, and take on a life of its own. Drawing inspiration from his juxtaposed life between the city and nature. Getting out of the city once in a while to encounter people and experience different lifestyles helps him to collect different ideas for textures and forms. Whenever he needs ideas during the process of creating, he lets nature draw them out. Vincent’s work is both sculptural and functional, attempting to recreate the delicate balance between lightness and heaviness, beauty and grotesque.
