Australian interior designer Christine Rose took a cool and composed approach when she designed her own contemporary family home in the Melbourne suburb of Lysterfield. She designed a functional family home, decorated in milky white, with a sense of scarcity and a sense of escape every day.
Christine Rose sees herself in many roles: she's a client, a designer, a stylist and a project manager. She envisioned a house that would draw inspiration from resort-style luxury, so she became fascinated with her house, creating a sense of flow and lightness.
Christine Rose says her choices are based on the feel of the material, decor or furniture, not the trend. "We live busy lives, so with that in mind, we make sure the harmonious tones are suppressed to create a calm and relaxed mood," she says. In this way, Christine Rose designed a functional family home that maximizes the space it takes up while prioritizing calm.
