Master-Classes

Minimalist Objects | Belgium x Frederic Kielemoes

Belgium 2022-02-08

I am very honored to be invited to participate in the masterclass relating to Belgian Minimalism. This masterclass is not based on art- or architectural-historical facts. it is mainly based on the influences that art and architecture have on my creativity and how I experience and transpose them into my work. Therefore, in my opinion, it is crucial to be able to broaden the interpretation of Minimalism. It is about versatility and lifting work to an extra dimension. Nevertheless it is done in the most humble way.

Frederic Kielemoes has been an interior designer for 25 years. After finalizing my academic education, He decided not to do internships, nor work at architecture offices. That decision forced me to explore the field auto-didactically and find his way without any direct influencers. It has been an important step to evolve into the designer that he is today.Frederic Kielemoes was invited to give a three-hour online lecture on the theme of "Belgian Minimalism 2.0".

He started my interior design office in 1996. This actually means that his practice started much later than the start of‘Minimalism' as a movement. Therefore he don't consider myself a pure Minimalist of the early days.

His generation is somewhat behind the times, but has enjoyed the necessary academic values to be able to develop towards a Minimalism that can be interpreted in a more versatile way. He is, as it were, an heir to Minimalism.
