Ukraine 2021-10-26

At 7:00 pm Beijing time on October 22nd (Friday), the famous Ukrainian interior designer Tamara Batsmanova shared her outstanding design work through Inji. The theme of this open class is "Pursuing the true self". In the first half of the course, we told us about our personal journey and how to find confidence through design. In the second half, we analyzed the wonderful design ideas of the project.

Tamara Batsmanova is an interior design studio located in Kiev, Ukraine, founded by founder and interior designer Tamara Batsmanova. The studio focuses on creating pure, minimalist and high-end spaces. They reflect their design concepts by innovating traditional and modern elements. The founder Tamara Batsmanova graduated in 2012 with a degree in architectural environment design from MIHMID Art Academy in Kiev, Ukraine. Her design combines traditional craftsmanship and fashion elements, aiming to create modern elegance and timeless design aesthetics.

Yinji:There are some special shapes in the space you designed, and different spaces present different personalities. How are these shapes finally confirmed? What is the basis for the design of the spatial form?
Tamara:I will first imagine the shape I want in advance. When the more difficult and complex shapes appear in my mind, I will look for the manufacturer of these personalized furniture in my city. I will first have the geometric concept. , And then look for an object or furniture similar to this shape, and then slowly shape it. Interior design is often done on the premise of completing the architectural design. Our interior design should highlight the building itself to the greatest extent, using the original space and light of the building, adding our own design, and meeting this premise You can use artificial materials like plasterboard to achieve the shape you want.

Yinji:In the third work, does the solid color want to emphasize any theme? Is there any background story as a starting point for the approach of the corridor?
Tamara:Before answering this question, I want to make one point. I don't want to explain my work deeper than the actual meaning. Maybe I don't have too many ideas. This corridor does not have any background story. However, before I shape it, I hope it can arouse the emotional resonance of others, and imagine that I can experience the emotions of the entire space when I walk into this space. As a designer, I don't deliberately tell a story. I hope that customers who walk into this space can have the same emotions and feelings as me. With this idea, I design these emotional designs. I used burgundy red for this corridor. The project is a hotel in Ukraine. I will use a slightly softer color in excessive places like corridors.

Yinji:What type of projects do you mainly like? As a female designer, your work has its own characteristics and obvious gender recognition. How do you guide customers in communication?
Tamara:For me, I will classify customers into two categories. The first category is fairly satisfactory. I will complete the tasks assigned by this category of customers. I will do as much as I want and let me do it. I'll do it to whatever degree I want. Maybe these works don't show their own style. The second category is the designs with personal styles mentioned today. When completing this type of order, we need to reach an aesthetic agreement with the owner. If he can’t appreciate your style, then this order cannot start. When inconsistent, no matter how you guide your customers, it’s hard to force them to accept your style.

Yinji:How are the materials used in your work, and how do you combine materials and design emotions?
Tamara:There will be several stages when the work becomes visualized. When we design unconventional and irregular spaces, the use of materials will be greatly restricted. In the first step, I will think about what kind of materials can realize the work, and in the second step, I will start selecting materials from the works that can be realized. Including in the project I just talked about, I have to choose glossy man-made glass to realize this design, and then this is a public space. I have to think about the durability of the material and cannot choose to let it break in a short time. s material. Regarding the choice of materials, first, we need to know our purpose, second, to choose the method to achieve this purpose, and third, after clarifying the method, we should choose the material that may realize our own design, and at the same time in the whole process You also need to think about the visual properties and durability of the material.
