Masquespacio is an award-winning Spanish creative design consultancy founded in 2010 by Ana Milena Hernandez Palacios and Christophe Penasse. The two disciplines of interior design and marketing, through unique methods, create custom brands and interior projects, thereby creating new innovative concepts.

Yinji:We really like the color interpretation of your design, can you share the design concept for us?
Masquespacio:Color is emotion and for this reason it is everything for us. Although color can also be just part of a more neutral project through the use of materials. In our processes to develop a design it is important to first of all find a direction for the design and than start to do trials. Trials for the colors, but also for the combination of the materials. It is important for us to take our time to do this trials until what we see on our screen is a perfect match of each of the elements of the design.

Yinji:How can colors be achieved in a wonderful work?
Masquespacio:It is important to process the design and do an infinite trials to make the correct combinations. Sometimes this can go quick, but in other moments it might take you a few weeks to reach the right combination. How more you practice how more you will reach a result you are satisfied with.

Yinji:We used to say that black, white and gray are the most classic combinations. Which color combinations do you think are better?
Masquespacio:We don’t think there is a specific color combination that is the best. We just think that every project should have its own color combination. Sometimes this can be more neutral and timeless and sometimes it can be more trendy and explosive. The perfect color combination also depends on what type of project we are working on and who is the customer the client want to attract. Places developed for younger generations like the generation Z would most likely be more trendy and have stronger color contrasts, while if the project is focused on a high level restaurant for example it might have a more neutral approach.

Yinji:How do you keep the work alive? What are some ways to get inspiration?
Masquespacio:We live design everyday from the moment we wake up. For us it is part of our lifestyle and we try to take inspiration from everywhere. From our travels, from our clients, from an artwork,… We are always in search of something new that can inspire us for our new projects…. We also like to look a lot to the past and from that point inspire us to develop something totally groundbreaking in the future.

Yinji:During the epidemic, did you have some new works? Can you explain to us?
Masquespacio:We have been focussing on the creation of our new brand Mas Creations. Mas Creations is let’s say our own personal experiment for which we develop projects and collections that have no established limitations. We call it thus our universe of colors, materials, textures and forms…. Full of emotion. In June we launched our first products the Too Much rocking chair and the Ball Pot flower pot. During the next few weeks we will launch other new products we have been developing during the lockdown. At the same time the project is developed together with some 3D interiors that represent each of the collection in our dream house.
