Di Dolce Cafe in Istinye Park,Istanbul was conceived by local design studio SANAYI313.Inspired by classical French pastries, the design team came up with the idea of using patterns on the domed glass as a tribute to the art of stained glass. They wanted to mention dolce & Gabbana's signature floral cake. For safety reasons, SANAYI313 replaces real glass with plexiglass, allowing peonies to hang from the ceiling. The idea is that they want to emphasize that this is a feminine, comfortable pastry shop.
The restaurant's lack of stiff walls creates an air of authenticity and hospitality. Domes and peonies create a unique and impressive effect as you stroll along Istinye Park's jewel Promenade.
The black and white marble floor has a nostalgic feel. In terms of furniture, SANAYI313 uses a mixture of materials such as wood, glass, bronze and terrazzo to create a sense of contrast. In their proper combination, they are as sophisticated as drinking tea in the lobby of a Plaza hotel in New York or Paris.
The surface of the floor defines the boundaries of the space, but the walls allow the customer's eyes to perceive these boundaries in three dimensions. The Cafe Di Dolce project is located in a rectangular 401m2 central area. This position enjoys daylight from the glass dome above. The biggest constraint, however, is the rule that the design studio cannot install anything that might obstruct the view of the surrounding shops.
To create a sense of simplicity at the level of the eye in an original way, and to allow guests to discover new details with each visit, SANAYI313 chose seven black chairs in different models. Each model comes with a different seating unit and table. By placing the bar and cake display area in the centre, the service circulation is integrated with the general circulation within the mall and a sense of vitality is established.
