The ViaClover design team seamlessly translates Gwyneth Paltrow's vision into a physical space that blends French and New York City influences with a uniquely Californian spirit. It is the sixth Goop boutique and the first to have an in-store treatment room. Ultimately, the space exudes a relaxed elegance and free-spirited energy.
The store is located in Larkspur, Northern California. It is surrounded by nature, especially the beautiful redwood trees. The new Marin County store goes far beyond Gwyneth Paltrow's original vision for a space that combines elements of a pre-war New York apartment with a vintage French cafe. It was also a challenging project, but the ViaClover design team accomplished the task perfectly. The whole process was smooth and every step of the project was encouraging.
The centerpiece of the store is a stunning beauty room with checkerboard patterned tiles and custom agate sinks. As you walk through it, you'll see the most chic pile of jewelry in Northern California. Also around the corner are G. Label items used by Gwyneth Paltrow himself.
The Newest Goop Store sought to create a more permanent, welcoming atmosphere to balance the tension of the surrounding commercial environment, and used a variety of circular elements, such as arches on lobby tables, doors and mirrors, to create a softer, more welcoming feel. This helps to take the focus away from the structured environment.
The Newest Goop Store's wood trim, molding and joinery, especially the rattan door rear shelving unit and wooden flooring, are a nod to New York. In addition, the changing area at the back is reminiscent of the New York apartment conversions common in pre-war apartments. It gives a sense that someone has come and updated these areas in a consistent way.
