Located in the heart of The Tamar Valley in Tasmania, Australia, Stoney Rise Cellar Door, designed by local design Studio Cumulus Studio, presents a location-inspired wine experience.

With a small footprint and high-quality materials, this highly modern structure inspired curiosity from first sight. Geometric figures streak across the sky, and sunlight radiates from the wood-covered exterior walls, replicating the light from the surrounding gum. In the middle of a meadow, undisturbed and serene, it seemed to beckon and encourage interaction.

Inside, the cocoon-like effect marks a welcome arrival. Dappled gum and dark brick with Burgundy finishes are used extensively, and large Windows capture the surrounding landscape with character. All in all, the architects focused on locally sourced, natural, untreated and durable materials that will fade and age over time, ensuring a sustainable and developmental character for this compact and friendly space.

The interior of Stoney Rise Cellar Door is warm, wrapped in blotchy gum and black brick, with a Burgundy finish, while large Windows frame the view and encourage a connection with the landscape.

The close collaboration between the architect and client Outlines an intimate yet lively space that can accommodate daily cellar visitors and wine tastings, as well as dinner parties and social gatherings. As a result, Stoney Rise Cellar is vibrant in its offerings; Understated and shared, experiential design prevails.
