Mokko Amsterdam

Design Furniture Dutch 2024-07-02

Mokko creates a unique aesthetic of its own, balancing raw materiality and subdued forms with geometrically expressive detailing.

Mokko represents a collection of interior objects designed by founder Aad Bos. The Amsterdam-based studio was created in 2017 and is trusted by renowned interior professionals and design enthusiasts internationally. Objects by Mokko feature a rhythm of monolithic form, created through an iteration of volumes and voids. Architectural elements are balanced, weighed and stripped from excess, until the essence of the inspiration is translated into a sculptural object that is emotionally resonant.

The product collection by Mokko combines the robustness of traditional furniture building with contemporary aesthetics, and includes tables, coffee tables, bookcases and accessories. With respect for traditional craftsmanship and nature, all products of the studio’s collection are made by carpenters in the Netherlands out of solid sustainable materials of the highest quality. All objects are custom-made and conceived as future heirlooms; intended to be valued, used and passed down through generations. Mokko mostly work with French and German oak and American walnut. The wood Mokko source is of the highest quality hardwood that is 100% FSC or PEFC certified, meaning it is sourced from responsibly managed forests, with strict environmental, social and economic standards.

Aad Bos is an autodidact lawyer-turned-designer and founded Mokkō in 2017 following an urge to create at his own terms. Aad's design contains original minimalist structures with eye catching elements while maintaining a serene aesthetic balance. Aad followed various courses in art, design and craft at the Edinburgh College of Art, Morley College London and the Delft University of Technology. Before founding Mokkō, Aad worked as a corporate lawyer for 5 years in Istanbul, London and Amsterdam, of which 4 years for Baker & McKenzie.
