Kingsgrove House is located in one of Singapore's fast-paced city-states and was designed by local design studio TE-EL. The main strategy for this home is to focus on natural materials and palette to create a quiet and calm refuge for the family. The space was reconfigured to introduce an open-plan living space that better suits the family’s needs and lifestyle. Elements in the house are distilled to its essential and elementary forms to bring out the innate beauty of the materials.

A door, the living room to give a person with a gentle and profound feeling, as if in the enthusiasm to meet them. Woven wool carpets contrast nicely with brushed limestone to delineate the living areas. Centered on a low charred oak table, the living area exudes a calm quality that invites people to gather and sit around. In the dining area, the long wooden table is complemented by a single island stone counter that anchors the space. The island counter also serves as an additional space, allowing residents to have more intimate conversations in the open living and dining Spaces, and is particularly suitable for large gatherings. The choice of a round blown glass chandelier softens the linearity of the space and gently illuminates the main dining area.

The balcony is designed as a void space that blurs the boundary between inside and outside. The plants along the street outside the balcony, similar in texture to the existing trees, were chosen as an extension of the exterior landscape. The corridor is distilled to its essence, exuding a sense of quiet as a journey into more private Spaces. Oak floors and finishes cover the bedrooms, creating a warmer and more comfortable atmosphere than normal living Spaces. Here, natural materials are deliberately layered to bring touch and timelessness to the space, turning the home into a neutral canvas.
