The Village Cafe

As a major part of Indian organization and residence, villages have for some time become synonymous with "Indian identity". The cultural and architectural diversity of villages across India can be fascinating, but the impact of invasive materials and technology under the wave of globalisation is also evident.

The advantages and disadvantages of this invasion continue to inspire people to look for design solutions in urbanized India. Its texture is closely intertwined with various village-like settlements.

The shaded gathering space is semi-isolated from the larger rest area and is not affected by the direct line of sight. The possibilities of various routes give a sense of settled intimacy -- regulars can find their own routes that are rarely touched by new visitors.

Carefully adjusted plant species and wall forms give the impression of an unreal rural settlement. Various attempts have been made to make terracotta plaster to bring warmth and natural saturation to the space. Exposed steel concrete rings pierced the walls, revealing cracks. The plants are carefully cultivated locally to ensure their survival.

The city has a thriving brass handicraft industry, hence the name Pital Nagri(" brass city "). Brass vessels of different sizes were incorporated into the decoration to echo the local trade. The interior chandeliers are custom-made, using wooden columns and carvings that hang from the ceiling. The atrium floor is made up of rough black stone fragments found locally in India. The purpose is to design a space for indians living in the city today to highlight the memory of the village in the past.
